| Lotus Bleu has been shaped by designer Jeannie Fraise's love of travel, artistic background, and design experience. As a young girl, she waited with excitement for her grandmother to return from travels around the world with exotic stories and special treasures. She took Jeannie on her first trip abroad where she was particularly fascinated by French art and architecture. In college, she studied art history in Florence and ventured on her first voyage around the world traveling by ship to Asia, Africa and South America. While traveling, Jeannie also met her husband Christophe, a French national from Madagascar. During the past 17 years, they have traveled extensively, focusing their time in France and Southeast Asia where they have located many unique sources for home décor. Recently, they went on their most important voyages ever to bring home their beautiful children: son Kai from Vietnam and daughter Tulla from China. |

In her academic education, Jeannie pursued the study of the visual arts, receiving a B.A. in art history from Denison University, and a M.A. and Ph.D. candidacy in art history from Stanford University. At Stanford, the topic of her research and writing focused on the American artist, Florine Stettheimer, a celebrated painter and interior decorator who created innovative portraits and interiors in New York during the twenties and thirties. She also worked in the curatorial departments of several museums including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, and the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford. Jeannie used her art background to start her design business and her first project was for a curator for whom she was working. Since then, she has completed over thirty residential design projects. |
